01 Why this design

Air stops at about 40 kW a rack. Your new servers start at 120.

Hall C was built for air. The racks going into AI row 1 put out three times the heat air can move. This design takes that heat off the chips with liquid and hands it to the facility water loop you already have.

120 kW
per rack, with room left on the CDU for three more racks.
32 °C
facility water is all it needs. Dry coolers do most of the work.
N+1
pumps in every CDU. A failed pump swaps out with the row running.
1 rack
is the most a leak can take offline. The rest of the row keeps flowing.

Liquid where the heat is

Cold plates sit on the CPUs and GPUs. About 85% of the heat leaves in the coolant. A rear door catches the rest before it reaches the room.

Two loops that never mix

Your facility water stays on one side of the CDU. Clean, filtered coolant runs to the servers on the other. A plate heat exchanger moves heat between them.

Built to be serviced live

Dry-break couplings at every tray. Valves at every rack. Filters and pumps change from the front without stopping the row.

02 About Arvane

We cool racks that run hot.

Liquid to the chip, heat out of the building, and nothing on the floor.

Arvane Thermal designs the Tidepath line of coolant distribution units, rack manifolds, rear doors and leak protection. We build it for halls that were designed for air and now have to carry AI loads.

We do not hand you a parts list. We draw your rows, size every pipe, pressure-test every manifold and hose before it ships, label it to the drawing, and stand next to your team when the loop fills for the first time.

Row layout and heat path. The CDU sits at the end of the row. Headers run overhead in the contained hot aisle. Heat goes from chip to coolant, coolant to facility water, and facility water to the roof.

Why the hot aisle

Pipes stay out of the cold aisle, where people work and servers breathe. Any drip lands where the rope is.

Why a CDU per row

One row on one unit keeps fault domains small. Add a row, add a CDU. Nothing upstream changes.

Why rear doors too

Cold plates miss memory, drives and power supplies. The door takes that heat, so your existing CRAHs are not asked to do more.

Rules for every loop

  • Facility water and server coolant never share a pipe. The CDU's plate heat exchanger is the only place they meet.
  • Blue is always supply, red is always return. Couplings are keyed so they cannot be swapped.
  • Every header, drop and hose is pressure-tested before it ships, then flushed, dried and capped.
  • Fill and flush on site with the TP-FILL cart. Nothing is mixed on the floor.

Overview

The TP-C1200 cools a full row of high-density racks. It takes facility water on one side and server coolant on the other, and a plate heat exchanger moves the heat between them without the two ever mixing. Pumps run N+1 and swap out from the front. Every reading goes to TP-View and your BMS.

Installation
Step 1. Prepare the rack
  1. Check the rear 0U channel is clear, top to bottom.
  2. Fit the brackets G at the marked heights.
  3. Torque bracket screws to 6 Nm.
TIP Leave the factory caps on every port until Step 7.
Step 2. Isolate the rack

Confirm both TP-V valves C are closed and locked out in TP-View before you touch the drop.

Step 3. Mount the manifold
  1. Lift the manifold onto the brackets. Two people.
  2. Blue column on the left, red on the right.
  3. Fit the retaining pins.
Step 4. Connect the drops
  1. Connect the blue drop to the supply inlet, red to return.
  2. Hand-tight, then a quarter turn.
  3. Check the labels match the rack number.
CAUTIONCoolant is under pressure in service. Wear eye protection and gloves. Never loosen a fitting on a rack that is not isolated. TP-Q12 couplings are the only parts made to break under pressure.
Arvane Thermal · Port Calder, CA (fictional) · arvane.exampleQS-TPM48 · Rev A · Page 1 of 2
Step 5. Fill and bleed
  1. Open supply valve C a quarter turn.
  2. Open bleed D until coolant runs clear, no air.
  3. Close the bleed. Open both valves fully.
Step 6. Pressure test
  1. Hold at 15 bar, 1.5x working pressure, for 30 minutes.
  2. Pass: no drop on the TP-View trend.
  3. Check the leak rope reads dry.
Step 7. Connect the trays
  1. Remove port caps one pair at a time.
  2. Push each TP-Q12 home until it clicks.
  3. Confirm flow on that port in TP-View.

How it ships

  • Manifold, valves and hoses pressure-tested, flushed and capped.
  • CDU set to your temps and on your management network.
  • Every part labeled to match the drawing.
  • Test reports with serial numbers in the crate.
  • An Arvane engineer on site to fill and start it with your team.

To decide with you

  • Pilot length and return terms. We suggest six weeks.
  • Which rack position, and where it taps facility water.
  • Who from your team runs the tests.
  • When real servers replace the load bank, if you want to keep it.

What a pass looks like

We draft this list. You edit it. The pilot passes when your team checks every line.

  • Holds 38 °C supply at 120 kW for 72 hours straight.
  • Rack ΔT stays between 8 and 10 K.
  • Pull one pump: the other carries full load, no alarm past a warning.
  • Disconnect a TP-Q12 under flow: nothing on the absorbent pad.
  • Wet the leak rope: alert in seconds, that rack's valves close.
  • Every point shows up in your BMS with the agreed names.
  • Facility water stays inside the agreed temps and flow.
  • Change a filter with the loop running.

12 Questions buyers ask

Straight answers, by team.

The questions we hear in every design review. If yours is not here, it goes on the list for the site walk.

Mechanical and facilities

Do we need chilled water?

No. The CDU runs on 32 °C facility water. That is warm enough for dry coolers to carry it most of the year, so your chillers only trim.

What does the CDU need from our plant?

Facility water at up to 35 °C, about 1,500 L/min per CDU at full load, and a DN100 tap. We give you the flow and pressure drop in writing.

What if facility water stops?

The CDU alarms at once and TP-View tells your BMS. Servers throttle on their own limits. We size ride-through time with you during design.

Critical power

How much power does the CDU draw?

Up to 15 kW at full flow, usually far less. Two feeds, A and B, with transfer inside the unit.

What happens when a pump fails?

Nothing you can feel. Pumps are N+1. The standby takes over, TP-View raises a warning, and the failed pump swaps out from the front.

IT and hardware ops

Can we pull a server without draining the rack?

Yes. Every tray sits on TP-Q12 dry-break couplings. Release, slide out, done. The rest of the rack keeps flowing.

What if something leaks?

The rope finds it to within 1 m. TP-LX closes that rack's valves and alerts your BMS. One rack goes quiet, the row keeps running.

Will it fit our server vendor's cold plates?

We map couplings and hose lengths to your server specs before the quote. If the vendor ships its own couplings, we match them.

Data center operations

What does the NOC see?

Every flow, pressure, temp and leak point, by rack, in your BMS and DCIM. Same names in TP-View and in your systems.

What maintenance does it need?

A coolant sample every quarter, which we test. Filter changes when TP-View says so. Both happen with the loop running.

Procurement

What is the warranty?

Five years on Arvane hardware, with advance replacement on pumps and controllers.

How is it priced?

Per rack kit, plus one CDU per row. Once Hall C is quoted, the next row is a known number.

What are the lead times?

Confirmed in writing with your quote, per kit, after the pilot closes.

For Corvia to decide

  • Facility water supply temp, and where row 1 taps in.
  • Headers overhead or under the floor.
  • Rack density target. 120 kW is drawn.
  • Rear doors on every rack, or only where needed.
  • N+1 inside one CDU, or two CDUs per row.
  • Coolant: PG25 or treated water.
  • BMS link: BACnet or Modbus. Pilot terms and pass list.

For Arvane to confirm before the quote

  • Heat load per rack from your server specs.
  • Pipe sizes and pressure drop, end to end.
  • CDU power against your busway.
  • Lead time for each kit, in writing.
